Resize an Image to 512 × 512

512 × 512 appears in web app manifests, some chat emoji sets and compact avatars. It is a small canvas: fine lines and tiny type will collapse.

How to use this page

  1. Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image.
  2. Pick crop-to-fill or fit-the-whole-image for the 512 × 512 canvas.
  3. Create the result on this device and download the 512 × 512 file.

Worked example: a manifest icon from a 2048 logo

Fit the logo on 512 × 512 with padding, download PNG, and open it at 100% zoom. If the mark is unreadable, simplify the logo rather than sharpening a muddy photo. Pair with the 1024 page if you also need a larger master.

What this job is for

Export from a larger sharp master. A 512-pixel icon that started as a compressed social download will look muddy. PNG is usually right for logos; JPG is enough for a photo avatar.

Useful limits

This is not a Discord, Slack or store-specific guarantee. Those services crop and recompress.

Frequently asked questions

Is 512 × 512 a favicon?

It is larger than a classic 16–32 pixel favicon. Browsers downscale it. Provide a real favicon set if you need crisp browser tabs.

Should I sharpen after resizing to 512?

Only very lightly, and after you have the 512 canvas. Sharpening a large file then shrinking it is the wrong order.

Local processing?

Yes. Nothing is sent to Image Cosmos.
