Compress an Image to 30 KB

Thirty kilobytes is still a harsh widget and thumbnail cap, a little more room than 20 KB. This page opens the same local compressor with 30 KB already entered.

How to use this page

  1. Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image in the workspace above.
  2. Keep JPG or WebP selected and confirm the target is 30 KB.
  3. Compress on this device, check the actual size, then download.

Worked example: a logo mark for a 30 KB comment avatar

Fit or crop the mark to about 256–400 pixels, then compress to 30 KB as JPG or WebP. Flat logos survive better than noisy photos. If type in the mark turns to mush, the slot is too small — ask whether 50 KB is allowed, or simplify the graphic.

What this job is for

Use 30 KB for small directory thumbnails, some older bulletin-board avatars and forms that reject 50 KB. Start from a crop at the displayed size. A 4000-pixel original forced to 30 KB will collapse; a 400-pixel crop has a chance.

Useful limits

Thirty KB is not enough for a readable A4 scan. For homework drops see the 300 KB page. Keep PNG only as a master, not as the targeted download.

The live tool behind this page is Image Compressor. It is the same local engine as the rest of Image Cosmos.

Frequently asked questions

Is 30 KB better than 20 KB?

Slightly. You may keep a few more pixels, but both targets are tiny. Use the larger one the host allows.

Can I hit 30 KB with PNG?

Not with a target. Switch to JPG or WebP.

Does Image Cosmos upload the widget image?

No. The file never leaves your device.
